Hello Everyone!
Teaching and Learning - around the school this week
This week Year 2 spent some time writing about their learning goals. Each student in the school has five Learning Goals including one for reading, writing and mathematics.
These goals are personalised for individual students to suit their specific learning needs and calibrated with the curriculum. They are revisited during the term and adjusted according to evidence noted by the student’s classroom teacher. Please feel free to discuss these at your upcoming Parent Teacher Meeting. In a random selection of our students today you will find Heidi, Ethan and Olivia from Year 2 working hard on describing their goals or writing a narrative.

Education Perfect
Education Perfect is a curriculum aligned teaching & learning platform for teachers, tutors and parents that Wattle Park Primary uses to enhance the students’ knowledge and use of the Chinese Language. You can find more information about it HERE.
The Education Perfect Language Championships began on Tues 8th March and culminated in a final countdown to its completion at 4pm on Tues 15th March. A big thank you to Ms Downes (LOTE and Art) who organised our participation and to Mr Abell (5A) and Mr. Lindsay (6A on Tuesdays and PE) who supervised our students during this time. As a result of the industrious academic rigour with which our students participated, we achieved the following:
Our students earned
Lucky ticket prizes for students who joined the final effort at the Countdown session on Tuesday will be drawn at Monday’s online assembly by our Language Leaders and certificates for our award winner will be handed out once they are sent from EP.
Calendar on website
I am on a mission to include a calendar on our website so we can all know what is going on. In 2020 our website was upgraded and our calendar disappeared. As we navigated online learning, the need to be aware of upcoming events was negated as, well… there wasn’t any. However, commensurate with the gradual reappearance of community occasions, its loss has become apparent. I shall keep the community informed about this endeavour.
COVID 19
As you are probably aware, COVID 19 continues to affect our school. On Tuesday this week one of our classes was reduced to only 7 of 19 students. Not all of the 11 students were away due to being infected. Many of them were away because they had to be in isolation due a household infection or other miscellaneous reasons. As required by Department of Education and Training Guidelines, we continue to send symptomatic students home to prevent infection of others, including classroom teachers. Classroom teachers are very difficult to replace in the current climate due to many of the replacement agencies being without staff due to COVID. We are very appreciative of the highly skilled regulars we have to take classes when needed. Please go HERE on our school website for more information of what we are required to do to manage COVID 19 in our school.
Peace Pole
Finally, you may notice we now have a ‘Peace Pole’ on the left hand side of the Banksia St. entrance to our school. This was installed Friday 18th March. It is a Rotary initiative. Peace Poles are planted with the Universal Peace Message “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. They symbolise our common wish for a World at Peace. They stand as a silent vigil for peace reminding us to think and act in the spirit of Peace - and don’t we need that now?! The Peace message is written in four languages, one panel on each side of the Peace Pole. More information can be found HERE.
Have a great weekend.

National Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel and one of the best days on the school calendar.
It is a day where students discover the joy of riding and kick-start healthy habits for the future.
National Ride2School Day will be held on Friday 25th March 2022.
If you can’t ride you can scoot or simply walk on the day too.
In Celebration of Harmony Week, children will be wearing their school uniform with a touch of orange on Monday 21st March and participating in activities to celebrate cultural diversity.
We ask children to bring along an orange that will be cut up and shared on the day. Oranges can be dropped off in your child’s classroom where SRCs will collect or in the tub outside the office.
Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.
Foundation BBQ 4-5pm
A chance to get to know other Foundation Parents outside in the fresh air.
Free sausage and zooper dooper!
Students will bring their own drink bottle.
See you there!

4. Message from Canteen
1). Canteen is always looking for volunteers to help.....12pm - 1.30pm on Friday. Please register via https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/827030846186224028/false?popup=true#/invitation
2). Please also ensure that you've updated your child's correct class for 2022 in Flexischools to avoid your child's lunch being delivered to the wrong classroom.
We operate a first aid room at Wattle Park Primary school. In order to keep our First Aid Room clean and tidy, we require parent volunteers to assist us each Friday. We'd love 40 families to help - so you only have to help once a year!
For only around 15 minutes we appreciate you checking the area, changing the sheets, and returned washed sheets the following Monday.
How to assist
Please see our office staff to purchase hats and bags.
Hats are $15.00
New bags can also be purchased from the office for $55.00
