Dear Parents and Carers,
Our students are settling in well as they get back into the rhythm of being at school.
Our ‘Start Up Program’ is what we begin each year with. It’s focus is on our School Values, including ‘Respect’ and ‘To Be Responsible’ which we integrate into how we work and play successfully at Wattle Park Primary school. This, coupled with the great weather has resulted in the teachers reporting very few incidents at play times and great feedback from our students about how happy they are to be back at school.
Speaking of the playgrounds, l’d like to thank one for our parents who fixed our top playground’s bridge today. The students love a bridge and to have it out of action for even one playtime was a disaster! Thank you for getting it done.
Yesterday, the students who volunteered from our Year 4-6’s to go to our swimming trials went to PLC to try out a variety of strokes. There was a great atmosphere of encouragement for ‘having a go’. Even if you happened to not be the greatest swimmer you were afforded a wild round of applause for getting in the pool adn giving it your best shot.
Be aware the Council regularly checks on the novel parking that sometimes occurs around our school during drop off and pick up times. The Council takes pictures and issues fines so please don't be tempted to park in driveways in Banksia St.
RA Tests will be distributed to students this week on Monday so no need to come to the gym to collect them. It is recommended children are tested on Monday and Wednesday nights. If any of our students find themselves in isolation and are up to complete school work, this is provided on each of our year level’s websites. Click HERE to access these sites.
Uniform Shop is up and running again with new times - it is still in the gym but there are new times. HERE is where to find out everything.
Finally, we have vast, marvellously green grounds. However, some of it is getting quite out of control. I have been wondering if anyone knows of anyone (or more than one person) who might be interested in a regular volunteer position attending to our grounds beginning with the area outside the canteen. It was very well planted with red dwarf flowering gums and has excellent structure but golly, it needs some work. They would require a Working With Children’s Check and to be triple vaccinated. Who knows… maybe there's a retired horticulturist out there who’d like to manifest their skills - nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Have a great week,
Steve Donohue
Principal

We operate a first aid room at Wattle Park Primary school. In order to keep our First Aid Room clean and tidy, we require parent volunteers to assist us each Friday. We'd love 40 families to help - so you only have to help once a year!
For only around 15 minutes we appreciate you checking the area, changing the sheets, and returned washed sheets the following Monday.
How to assist
$15.00
New bags can also be purchase from the office for $55.00
Please be aware that Book Club is on line ordering only. Please do not send cash to the office. Delivery of orders will be mailed to school. The deadline for orders is 11th February.
