Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to all our students and families, new and returning for 2022!
We’ve begun with a productive start to school that we hope continues with no lockdowns so each students’ educational trajectory can remain uninterrupted and full of enriching learning experiences.
We welcome to our teaching staff Ms Monica Woodhouse who will be teaching 4A .Ms Woodhouse has a background in science and is looking forward to getting to know each and every one of her students. Ms Adriana Bisognano, who started with us in Term 4 of 2021 is with us for this year teaching year 2B. Ms Samantha Teng, whom many of you will remember, has returned to work Mon and Tues with Ms Anna Saaksjarvi in 3B. Many of you will also know Ms Emma Tan, who has a history of teaching Foundation, will now be our Acting Assistant Principal.
At the end of the first week of this term Mr John Davey wrapped up his role of Visual Art teacher and is now officially retired. Visual Art is still a valued part of our Specialist Program and will continue. Mr Davey has offered a richly diverse and historically informative Art program at WPPS and his humour, insight and specialist painting skills will be missed.
Covid…Oh dear…There are School Operational Guidelines we must follow. We are currently up to operational manual No 29. Thanks to our School Council Communications Committee leader, Rosie Kirn, our school protocols are updated regularly and may be found on the second tab from the left on our website landing page.
Thank you to, you, our school community, who are respecting the protocols we must implement including getting regularly tested and remaining outside our school buildings. This is greatly appreciated. Simple actions followed by individuals create as safe an environment as possible for our students and broader community.
As part of these protocols WPPS School Council purchased 14 air purifiers last year. One for each class. We received air purifiers from DET two weeks ago. Now we have one or more in each classroom. We've handed out RA tests to each Parent/Carer this week and will do so again in the week beginning Mon 14.2.9 (Wk 4 of Term 1) We have had only 4 cases reported this week and the last two days have been infection notification free! So we may all be as informed as possible, I will send out an email each school day to keep our community informed of infection notification numbers.
Finally, “Hello!”
Like many of you, I miss having Gayle around and as such, l am reminded into what big shoes l have stepped. I appreciate the many positive comments l have received regarding this year long appointment and hope we can continue along this fascinating educational journey together. I look forward to getting to know many more of our students and families as we navigate our way through an environment that presents interesting challenges and delightful opportunities.
Kind regards,
Steve
If you are new to the school, welcome!
The PFA is a group of enthusiastic parents who enjoy supporting the school through fundraising activities (including the veggie boxes and mango drive last year), as well as looking at ways we can enhance the school community through social events. We love to welcome new members to the group, and are always on the lookout for ideas!
Last year we were able to hold a number of great fundraisers including an Easter egg raffle, fundraising Bunnings BBQ and our very popular mango, veggie & fruit boxes. In addition, we have a dedicated group of volunteers who arranged a wonderful Mothers & Special Persons Stall which is always a great success and the kids love choosing their selection!
What’s coming up in 2022?
We'd love you to sign up to part of our committee. We're always looking for people to bring fresh ideas and energy to our merry group!
How to get involved!
Being a part of the PFA is a great way to be part of the school community and to meet new parents. We would love to see you involved – whether it’s organising or assisting with fundraising events, putting together social activities, attending social gatherings or buttering scones during an Open Day!
If you have any ideas about what we can do next, please let me know. We aim to hold regular meetings (virtual), and invite you to come along. Please contact me for details.
To the team again thanks for all your help and I look forward to seeing you in the Wattle Park PS community soon.

We operate a first aid room at Wattle Park Primary school. In order to keep our First Aid Room clean and tidy, we require parent volunteers to assist us each Friday. We'd love 40 families to help - so you only have to help once a year!
For only around 15 minutes we appreciate you checking the area, changing the sheets, and returned washed sheets the following Monday.
How to assist
$15.00
New bags can also be purchase from the office for $55.00
Year 6 families will receive an email next week in regards to updating student contact information. Please look carefully over this email, and make any necessary changes and return the forms to the office as soon as possible.
It is most important the office has the latest up to date contact information.
Please be aware that Book Club is on line ordering only. Please do not send cash to the office. Delivery of orders will be mailed to school. The deadline for orders is 11th February.
Play the world game indoors, join a Futsal (indoor soccer) competition with Futsal HQ right here at Wattle Park P.S.!
What is Futsal? Futsal is essentially football/soccer with a twist (and fewer rules). It's a five-a-side game which includes one goalkeeper for each team, played on a basketball court and with a smaller and heavier ball. Futsal HQ host matches consisting of 2 x 18 minutes halves, rolling-substitutions, kick-ins instead of throw-ins and thankfully no offside rule!
Keen to get involved in a local women's competition and give futsal a go? Players are required for women's Futsal teams on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday nights. Team applications most welcome and open to all women aged 16 years and over. Play Futsal, have fun and meet new people!
