Principal's Report 16th October 2026

Hello Everyone,

A big thank you to Eliza H and David S for organising and supporting our students at the recent Division Athletics, held on Tuesday 13 October.

Coordinating an event like this involves many important responsibilities, including being aware of students’ medical needs and food allergies, managing arrival and departure arrangements, and ensuring students know where they need to be and when to compete.

As this was a select-entry event, we were unable to allocate a teacher to attend, so the responsibility was handed over to our parent community. Eliza and David did a terrific job managing these arrangements and supporting our students throughout the day.

Thank you both for your time, organisation and commitment to our students. Your support was greatly appreciated!

2027 Class Formation

WPPS will soon be sorting 2027 classes.

Students are placed in classes based on a variety of factors including:

  • medical requirements
  • safety concerns
  • legal obligations (intervention/court orders etc)
  • academic needs and
  • student generated friendship preferences

If you feel your child has specific educational needs in relation to class placement, please communicate this via email to steven.donohue@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 13th of November.

The WPPS ‘Class Formation Policy’ is on our school website.

First year at Wattle Park

2012

Current role

Year 1/2C Classroom Teacher

Favourite subject when I was at school:

Visual Art, Drama, Humanities

Best memory from primary school:

Watching a number of space shuttle launches from my school grounds. Our school was about 30 minutes south of Cape Canaveral in Florida and so we were lucky enough to have an excellent view of the launches. I also remember the day we had to dress up as what we wanted to be when we grew up, guess what I chose?! Teacher)

Favourite book growing up:

This is hard as I loved so many growing up. I especially loved ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Indian in the cupboard’ series. I also adored all Roald Dahl books. ‘A Wrinkle In Time’  is also up there on my list.

Favourite movie:

This is also a very hard one to answer! Far too many! I love ‘Star Wars’ (particularly the original trilogy) and ‘Harry Potter’. I also love all things 80’s and Brat Pack related.

Best dish I can cook:

My vegetable curries, especially a kale and chickpea curry.

Which Zooper Dooper flavour I'm buying from the Year 6 stall:

Cola

Hidden talent:

Drawing… and…. Dancing ;)

Most controversial opinion:

Peanut butter on chopped apple is delicious! As is PB&J :)

Number one item on my bucket list:

Travel through South America

If I wasn't a teacher I'd be...

A speech pathologist or a psychologist.

What I would tell my 10-year-old self:

It’s OK not to be like everyone else. You do you and you will find your people. To quote a line from one of my favourite songs, ‘Live your heart and never follow’.
