Hello Everyone,

A very big thank you to Michael Hunt, without whom our new playground may never have risen from the ashes! 

From its conception, through an enormous amount of planning, fundraising events and, of course, a very welcome Victorian Government SRL grant, our playground is now almost complete.

As a member of School Council and Chair of our Buildings and Grounds Committee, Michael has been instrumental in driving this project forward. Working closely with Activity Playgrounds, Michael helped develop a bespoke vision for a playground that would be engaging, challenging and exciting for our students. Activity playgrounds is an Australian owned and run family company and the playground was completely manufactured in Australia.

What began as an idea has now become a wonderful reality — and, after all the planning, fundraising, meetings and hard work, our students will finally be able to enjoy their new playground from Monday!

This would not be possible also without the everhard working PFA who have, over years, created marvellous events whose resultant fundraising has brought us to this point.

On behalf of the Wattle Park Primary School community, thank you, Michael, for your commitment, persistence and generosity in helping make this happen. It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when our school community works together.

Our annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey opened online for two weeks from Monday 17 August to Friday 28 August 2026. The survey is optional, takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and provides valuable feedback that helps us identify areas for improvement and inform school planning. Last year, your feedback helped shape a range of changes, including our new playground and improvements to the canteen. All families are encouraged to participate, with login details and a unique PIN to be sent via Compass on Monday 17 August.

2026.08.26 & 7 Year 5& 6 Next Gen Construction Workshop

Over two full days, the team from Crazy Ideas College came to share the Next Generation Workshop, where they taught the 5\6s how to think of a big idea, build an idea and write a pitch about this idea. 

They told us to choose a topic that we are passionate about and come up with an idea about that topic. Then we built a prototype on this idea and began writing a pitch with our group to present to 15 visiting executives from Terre Verde and the Suburban Rail Loop.

Everyone really enjoyed this experience and got the most out of it, we all had so much fun learning about construction.

I thought the Next Gen Construction Workshop was really fun, I got to choose a topic I was passionate about, group up with my friends and think of an idea, we then got to make a prototype about this idea. This was a great opportunity and I especially thought it was super fun to make and present our pitch.

2026.09.11 Year 6 Cereal Box Food Drive!

We are excited to announce our Year 6 Cereal Box Food Drive!

Year 6 students are collecting new and unopened boxes of cereal to donate to ‘It’s the Little Things’ charity, helping people in our community who are less fortunate.

Any brand of cereal is welcome! We just ask that donations be in a cereal box that can stand upright and be used as part of our domino chain.

1 cereal box = 3 House Points! Every box donated will earn House Points and students who  earn the most will win a Year 6 Boutique Initiative of their choice, such as dodgeball, a colouring workshop, or another fun activity.

Please bring your cereal box into school by:  FRIDAY 4th SEPTEMBER

Our Big Domino Drop will take place on:        FRIDAY 11th SEPTEMBER! 

The cereal boxes collected will be arranged around the school to create a giant domino chain. The more boxes we collect, the bigger our chain will be! It will be a little like this:

ECO MVP

How to win….

It’s simple

 - Continue to bring your nude food lunches

 - Pick up rubbish around the classroom and school

 - Turn off lights and powerpoints that don’t need to be on

 - Turn off leaking taps

 - Dispose of rubbish appropriately.

Each week, a Scarecrow teacher or leader will visit one classroom (at random). They will select one student for the ECO MVP, and their photo will be taken for Assembly. The student will receive an amazing Banana Trophy and Plantable Pencil.

A Message from PTICS Central
We are a local business based in Mitcham.  We host regular free STEM based events and we wanted to share details about an upcoming STEM-focused astronomy even that we think your students and their families will enjoy. On Saturday, September 19th 2026, we are holding a FREE telescope viewing event that can help encourage kids to develop interest in science and astronomy. We will feature three main activities.  Looking through telescopes at the Moon, astronomy talks and quizzes and competitions, to showcase our closest celestial neighbor. There will also be telescopes set up with a team who can show them and the parents how to use them for hands-on practice. This event is catered for children aged 10 years and older, but all ages are welcome.
We extend an invitation for you to join us for these events. As there is limited capacity, we would love for you and your team to sign up as soon as possible to get spots for your students.
