Principal's Report 7th August 2026

Hello Everyone,

WPPS NAPLAN Results

At the start of this term, our Year 3 and 5 students received their NAPLAN results. Some of you may have seen in the news that Victorian students ranked first or second in 16 of the 20 NAPLAN domains, an amazing achievement.

We’re incredibly proud of our students and the results they achieved. Below you’ll find an overview of our results compared with the state. We’re pleased to share that we continue to achieve well above the state averages across all domains tested.

While we’re proud of our results, we still continue to strive for improvements and to support all our students in achieving their full potential.

NAPLAN results are marked as described below:

  • Exceeding (dark green): the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
  • Strong (light green): the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
  • Developing (grey): the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
  • Needs additional support (black): the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes that are expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

Our results:

OUR CHICKENS NEED YOU

The WPPS chickens are a wonderful addition to our school, but they can’t take care of themselves. We rely on families to look after them on weekends, public holidays and curriculum days.

All you need to do is:

  • Let them out in the morning and change their water (around 9am)
  • Put them back inside in the afternoon, change their water again and give them their food. (Between 3-5pm).

If you have some extra time to clean up the coop that is always appreciated, and bonus, if you find some eggs, they’re yours to keep!!

If your child is in Year 4 or older they know what to do. If your child is younger you can find the instructions here or reach out to the office and we can organise a quick training session.

This year chicken duty has been down to an all-time low and we desperately need families to care for the ladies. Did you know if each family did one duty we would fill up the whole year?

The kids love doing it and we’re lucky to have a school with chickens so please do your part by signing up today https://signup.com/go/dKqTDEy

2026.07.31 Collaboration with RMIT University and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU)

We were delighted to welcome a group of visiting teachers from Taiwan to Wattle Park Primary School on Thursday, 30 July 2026.

The visit was part of a bilingual professional development program delivered through a collaboration between the School of Education at RMIT University and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). The program supports educators from a range of subject areas in developing bilingual teaching practices as part of the bilingual initiative of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan.

During their visit, they observed classrooms, shared teaching ideas with our staff, and led a range of engaging cultural activities with our students. The hands-on experiences gave students the opportunity to learn more about Taiwanese culture while practising collaboration and communication skills. It was a wonderful cultural exchange that strengthened our global connections and provided valuable learning opportunities for both students and teachers.

Thank you to our LOTE teacher, Ms Sabrina Lin, for coordinating this opportunity for our students and staff to share their knowledge, enthusiasm, and culture with our school community.
