Hello Everyone,

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Richard Abell, who stepped into the role of Acting Principal, and Julie Carlson, who served as Acting Assistant Principal, while I was on Long Service Leave over the past two weeks. 

It is incredibly reassuring to know that the school continues to run so smoothly in my absence, and I am very grateful for their leadership and commitment during this time.

I would also like to thank our school community for your understanding and support during the recent AEU industrial action. I recognise that keeping children at home created significant inconvenience for many families, and I sincerely appreciate the efforts you made to support our teachers and, importantly, our Education Support staff.

At the time of writing, there are no further industrial action days scheduled. Thank you again for your ongoing support of our staff and for working in partnership with us. I hope this issue will be resolved as soon as possible.

Monday 27th of July - Yr 3-6 House Athletics Day

At the Year 3 to 6 Athletics Day at Hagenauer Reserve in Box Hill North, we participated in 8 events alongside Box Hill North Primary School. We are excited to share that many students got into the next level, which is District. It was a chance to show off and practice our athletic skills. At Athletics Day we saw just how many impressive athletes we have at WPPS! 

We really enjoyed the long jump and 100m sprint, but Athletics Day wasn't just about the competition, it was also about participating with your friends and cheering each other on! The weather for Athletics Day was sunny in the morning but soon became very cold, but our students took on the challenge and persevered to have a great experience. It was a terrific chance to spend time doing a range of different sports with your friends and we had the best day ever.

The athletics day was really fun. My favourite event was the 200 metre race and hurdles. I had a fun time with my friends.

Athletics day was SUPER fun, as my favourite events were 800m, discuss, and triple jump. But all together I had the absolute best time ever especially because I had all my friends to help me.

Year 3/4 Camp to Arrabri Lodge
You may remember from last weeks’  newsletter there was mention of the year 3/4 going to their annual school camp. This year it was to Arrabri Lodge.

Arrabri Lodge provides a fully planned camp program in a safe and supervised environment. Students can participate in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, including archery, climbing wall, flying fox, swimming, orienteering, ropes course and initiative activities.

All activities are conducted by trained staff and are designed to support the development of teamwork, resilience, confidence and problem-solving skills while ensuring student safety and wellbeing remain the highest priority.

How to win….

It’s simple

 - Continue to bring your nude food lunches

 - Pick up rubbish around the classroom and school

 - Turn off lights and powerpoints that don’t need to be on

 - Turn off leaking taps

 - Dispose of rubbish appropriately.

Each week, a Scarecrow teacher or leader will visit one classroom (at random). They will select one student for the ECO MVP, and their photo will be taken for Assembly. The student will receive an amazing Banana Trophy and Plantable Pencil.
