Principal's Report 12th June 2026

Hello everyone,

A Community Built on Respect

One of the things I value most about Wattle Park Primary School is the strong sense of community that exists beyond the classroom walls. Each morning and afternoon, our expansive grounds become a place where families connect, friendships are strengthened, children play, and members of our community take the opportunity to spend time together. With the advent of devices that promote connectedness but encourage retreat, this is a very important aspect of our school.

I sincerely thank the many parents, carers, grandparents and community members who contribute to the welcoming atmosphere we enjoy. These interactions help foster the warm and inclusive culture that makes Wattle Park Primary School such a special place.

It is therefore disappointing when behaviour is observed that does not align with the values we seek to promote as a school community.

While Wattle Park Primary School is a public school, it is also situated on a private site. It is a workplace and a learning environment. As such, all members of our community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the standards outlined in our *Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy*, which is available on the school website.

Positive school communities are built on open and honest communication, mutual trust and respect, collaboration, and fair expectations. When adults model these behaviours, our children benefit. They learn how to navigate relationships, resolve differences respectfully, and contribute positively to the communities they belong to. Conversely, when children observe raised voices, aggressive language, or disrespectful interactions, they can come to view these behaviours as acceptable ways to resolve conflict. This is not what we want our children to learn, nor is it the example we should be setting.

As a community, we will not always agree on every matter. However, we can always choose how we engage with one another. By approaching conversations with respect, kindness and a shared commitment to the best interests of our children, we strengthen the partnerships that are so important to student success.

RESPECT, is after all, one of our school values.

Our Students

2026.06.09 RACV Safety Squad Incursion

On Tuesday 9th June, our Year 3 and 4 students participated in the RACV Safety Squad incursion, an engaging and interactive session focused on helping students stay safe in a variety of everyday situations. Through games, discussions and practical activities, students learned important safety messages about being safe around roads, in the community and when travelling as pedestrians, passengers and cyclists.

The incursion provided students with valuable opportunities to develop their awareness of potential risks and make safe choices in different environments. We would like to extend a special thank you to our Year 6 Wellbeing Leaders for organising this fantastic learning experience. Their leadership and commitment to promoting student wellbeing helped make the day a great success for our Year 3 and 4 students.

Our Staff

This week interview Ms D who teaches 5B:

Hello everyone!

During my many years at WPPS, I have spent a lot of time teaching Year One, Year Four and I am now currently teaching Year Five. This year I have taken on a new role as our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, supporting a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything I do. I’m passionate about creating a classroom environment that’s inclusive, supportive, and fun - where every child feels valued and seen. I love celebrating the unique backgrounds, strengths, and personalities that each student brings.

I hope to see you around :)

Weekend Chicken Volunteers!

Our Year Four students do an incredible job caring for our chickens at WPPS. However, they're not there to care for them on weekends so we're in need of some help.

Our SignUp is structured so that you are responsible for the chickens for a full day on the weekend, but this only requires one visit in the morning (at or before 9am) and one visit in the afternoon (between 3pm-5pm).

Please click here to visit the volunteer SignUp page.
