Principal's Report 6th February 2026

Hello Everyone,

Hi my name is Issy from Year 6 and today I’m the Principal.

I’m Principal because my Mum and Dad made a bid at the Twilight Fete Silent Auction for me to be Principal. This morning I helped host the assembly. I had lots of fun. Then I went on a school tour with the School Captains. We went all around the school telling everyone how amazing our school is.

Now I’m writing the newsletter.

Running Club is back and running!
For those of you who don’t know what running club is, Parents volunteer every:

Thursday 8am - 8:40am

and play games with students who choose to come to the running club.

Running club is completely free and you will also receive a running club t-shirt which you can wear in school hours. Running club is super fun and you can do it at any age Foundation - Year 6.

Please be aware that students participating in this activity are in the care of the parents who run the activity, not in the care of WPPS staff, until 8.45am.

Foundation & Yr 6 buddies BBQ
On Thursday 5th February,  the Foundation students and their Year 6 buddies had a BBQ. There were about 66 Foundations and Year 6’s. Everyone had a great time. It was a good time to hang out with your buddy and also was good for the Foundations to have some fun.

Chinese Lunar New Year!
We’ll be holding a Lunar New Year celebration at the school assembly on 13th February. There will be a quiz, a performance by our Year 1/2 students, and a special showcase. We’d love for you to join us!

We also run a Chinese Club every Thursday lunchtime in February—students are welcome to come to the LOTE room for some fun activities.

Our Students
At Assembly this week our Year 6 Leadership positions were announced and badges awarded. Well done to all our Year 6 students for 2026!

Students of the Week!
As a result of our recent School Review, as well as the work we are doing with our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program, our school values changed last year from six:

Respect, Responsibility, Care, Encourage, Value and Challenge

to the ‘Three R’s’;       Respect • Responsibility • Resilience

Congratulations to all of our students who have displayed these values this week

Parents who normally have a Student Support Group Meeting (SSG) each term do not have Parent-Teacher meetings.

Parent-Teacher Meetings this term will be held in 10-minute sessions on:

Wed 11.2 from 3.50 – 5.00 pm

Interviews will be held face-to-face unless otherwise organised with the classroom teacher via Video Conferencing (Zoom/WebEx).

Parent-Teacher Meetings will be available to book now via your COMPASS. Bookings will close at 12 pm on Tues 10.2.

Please contact the office if you need assistance.

You are free to book a time of mutual convenience to meet with our child's classroom teacher by simply emailing them. Each teacher's email address is at the top of each year level webpage accessible via the above links.

For more information please view our School Polices

Class Representatives
We are fortunate to have an active and engaged school community, and one of the most valuable ways you can contribute is by volunteering as a Class Representative for your child’s class.

The Class Representative plays a vital connection role between the school and families. This volunteer position helps to support communication and build community within your child’s year level and class group.

What the role involves:

Sharing Information: Forward messages from the school and/or class website or key notices to your class WhatsApp group, helping ensure families stay informed about important dates, events and opportunities.

Supporting the Year Level/Teacher: Assist your teacher by distributing relevant class-level information and reminders throughout the year.

✨ Welcoming Families: Be a friendly point of contact, particularly for new families to your class.

Facilitating Community: Encourage positive connections among class families — great for building friendships, organising social get-togethers (if appropriate), and nurturing a strong sense of community.

This role is rewarding and flexible, with the opportunity to share the responsibilities with another parent/carer if desired, making it manageable with your schedule.

Being a Class Representative is a fantastic way to be directly involved in your child’s school experience, support our communication efforts, and contribute meaningfully to the vibrant WPPS community.

If you are interested in being your class’s representative (or co-representative), please let your class teacher know  by the end of next week (Friday 13th Feb)   — we’d love to have you join this valued group.

Please note the WPPS Annual Permission Form has been sent out on Compass as an event.

Managing School Absences
The Department of Education (DE) has a policy for student absences. Part of this policy involves same day notification of parents/carers when there is an unexplained absence. This is why the school calls you if your child is marked absent on the school roll and we have no notification from you as to why on Compass. The DE has asked all schools to inform their community of the processes around absences and what happens when a child is absent for a long period of time.

For more information go to  our Attendance Policy

Go to  Attendance and missing school for example situations of how to respond.
