Principal's Report 24th October 2025

Hello Everyone,

From December 10, 2025 the Australian Government will implement legislation that expects age-restricted social media platforms  to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 years old from having accounts on their platforms. There is a lot in the media about how and why this is happening.

The best place to go for clarification on how this works is the office of the E Safety Commissioner.

Our Students
Students of the Week!
As a result of our recent School Review, as well as the work we are doing with our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program, our school values have changed from six:

Respect, Responsibility, Care, Encourage, Value and Challenge to the ‘Three R’s’;

Respect • Responsibility • Resilience

Congratulations to all of our students who have displayed these values this week.

This week, we investigated resilience and how it looks in play spaces. You can view the video HERE

Our Staff
Continuing our series on getting to know our staff at Wattle Park Primary School, we re-introduce Ms Lily O, who is replacing Mel Downes in 12 A whilst she is on LSL.

Hi Wattle Park Community!

My name is Lily or ‘Miss O’ as the students call me, and I have been working at Wattle Park Primary School as a Casual Relief Teacher (CRT) in 2025. I completed my Bachelor of Education (Early Years) last year and have been dedicating 2025 to building my teaching experience across different year levels and different subjects. I have successfully made my way around to each classroom throughout the year, which has been an incredible way to get to know all the students and the staff.

I have the pleasure of teaching 1/2A for 3 weeks whilst their classroom teacher Mel Downes is away, which has been an enjoyable experience so far. I can't wait for all the fun and engaging experiences that are planned for the 1/2 group.

Thank you to the Wattle Park community for making me feel welcomed and supported this year, and especially these 3 weeks! I'm looking forward to continuing to get to know everyone in the school community and the 1/2A class.
