Principal's Report 19th September 2025

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who helped make this term the vital and dynamic festival of learning it has been.

The PFA  events, the volunteers, the School Council, our friends at Cameron Close and Papilio and a host of other people have been instrumental in creating a safe place to enable our students to flourish.

  • Tuesday 7th October: Students begin school for Term 4

For all other dates please check the WPPS school calendar which includes dates for school camps in 2026.

Please also check year level websites for class specific information. These websites will be updated for term 4 on Monday 6th of October.

2025.09.13 The Great Big Working Bee!

Thank you to our 25 Working Bee volunteers who pulled up their sleeves from anywhere between 8am to 1pm last Saturday to move 25m3 of topsoil and mulch the front of the school.

The stretch that is now covered in topsoil had a former life as the staff carpark. This has never grown grass very well and now it has the best chance to become a lush green play area.

This was a huge effort by many people and included a free BBQ and beer from 12 - 1pm!

Perhaps next term we will see you there too!

Volunteers included:

  • Troy and Gemma S
  • Edward L and Anya & Kai
  • Danille, Mark, Betty & Alex B
  • Tristan, Cressida & Cecily
  • Alex & Eliza B - a special thank you to Eliza who arrived complete with a wagon of BBQ supplies
  • Drew and Felix N - a special thank you also to Drew who came with his reciprocating saw to remove a few long embedded tree stumps in the oval
  • Barb, Leon, Charlotte & Aiden W
  • Wilson
  • Mike Hunt - who arrived at 8am resplendent with great enthusiasm organising tools from the shed in readiness for the team to arrive
  • Jonathan & Wilbour E - whose attention to detail has resulted in a smooth and level finish to our soon to be lush green oval
  • Alex V

(apologies if I missed anyone!)

Our Students

2025.09.12 Year 12 Excursion to Back Creek

As part of our Term 3 Science unit Watch It Grow, our Year 1/2 students took part in the annual Schools Tree Planting Day with the Friends of Back Creek on Friday 12th September. This year’s event was particularly special as it marked the 25th year of the program.

Students enjoyed walking down to Back Creek, where they helped plant 600 native plants (with the holes kindly pre-dug for us!). Alongside the planting, they were treated to a snack provided by the organisation – always a highlight, with the traditional chocolate cake and cordial.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to contribute to caring for our local environment and to be part of a long-running community tradition. Many of the trees planted in past years can still be seen growing strong, reminding us of the lasting impact of this event.

Jenion: “I enjoyed putting the seeds in the ground. I will go on the weekend to check on them.”

Meera: “It was really fun. I loved planting plants and working with my friends.”

Chickens!

Hi Families of WPPS!

Our wonderful chickens need looking after not only by our students during the week, but also on weekends. Our Year 4 families are doing a great job caring for them over the weekend but we need the whole school’s help too.

We currently do not have anyone caring for our chickens this weekend or in the upcoming weekends and we need your help!

Our SignUp is structured so that you are responsible for the chickens for a full day on the weekend, but this only requires one visit in the morning (at or before 9am) and one visit in the afternoon (between 3pm-5pm).

The kids love it and you may even pick up a few eggs to take home

Students of the Week!

As a result of our recent School Review, as well as the work we are doing with our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program, our school values have changed from six:

Respect, Responsibility, Care, Encourage, Value and Challenge

to the ‘Three R’s’;

Respect • Responsibility • Resilience

Congratulations to all of our students who have displayed these values this week
