Principal's Report 9th May 2025

Hello Everyone,

In the next few weeks WPPS will be moving into the Social Media Sphere.

We are doing this to increase our visibility in the broader community. Although our current external media policy covers this regarding pictures of students, l will be sending out a letter at a later date to further explain what we are going to do and how we will be doing it.

Here is an excerpt from the letter:

  • Comments will be turned off

  • No children’s names will be used (not even first names)

  • Content will be curated by a designated staff member along with the Principal class to be uploaded once a week in conjunction with the school newsletter.

Please let your classroom teacher know, if you do not want your child to feature in any of this content.

More information later.

Thank you
I’d like to make mention of two of our Dads, Alex B (Apollo and Atlas) and Anthony H (Ned) who noticed and repaired our school fence on the weekend of 03.05.2025.

Thank you Alex and Anthony. As a result we will get our carpenter John, in to look at how  our fence can be reinforced.

Wattle Hill Kindergarten - Year 5 Reading Buddies

Viv introduction: 20250507_114446.mp4

I really enjoy having the experience of getting to visit Wattle Hill Kindergarten children. I have one buddy to share time with and play around with. They are always willing to meet us and vice versa. It also lets us socialise with younger children and teach them a lot of other things and I really enjoy it!
Charvee Kirana, 5A

I’m really happy to have the opportunity to have a Wattle Hill Kindergarten buddy. It’s really fun to see what the children are doing and a great way for us to teach them to share. They buddy program is fun for everyone.
Emily Keen, 5A

I love going to the Wattle Hill Kindergarten because I love playing with my buddy. It gives us the opportunity to teach them and help them and it will give us life skills forever.
Issy Curlewis, 5A

Our Staff
Those of you with a child in Year 3 or 4 at WPPS may have noticed Nicole Browne, our Horticulturist, has taken some leave for term 2. We are lucky enough to have secured the services of Kathleen O’Mahony for the term who has volunteered on many occasions in the garden.

Hi I’m Kathleen! For those who don’t know me, I am the new garden teacher. I have been volunteering in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program since the start of term 3 last year. I now have the privilege of working as the garden specialist.

You’ll find me in the garden on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you’re a parent, family member or loved one, you are invited and welcome to join as a volunteer. All help is appreciated to support this incredible program. It has been rewarding working in the garden program, sharing knowledge and skills to our future generations. I am excited to share more knowledge and continue to see students grow alongside the plants in the garden.

Outside of my garden role, I’m a student at Deakin University. I am studying invertebrates (bugs) in my Honours of Environmental Science. I have a keen interest in conservation, sustainability, and intercultural communication.

I’m excited to be engaged contributing to the amazing school garden Nikki has developed. Thank you, Wattle Park 3/4 students, I look forward to the gardening ahead of us!

Kathleen O’Mahony

Have a great weekend everyone.
