2025.04.25 ANZAC Day Ceremony
Each Year WPPS hosts an ANZAC Day dawn ceremony onsite. It is open our school community and anyone in our broader community who may like to join us in remembering the sacrifice our ANZACS made so we may live in a peaceful country.

We had a fire pit, listened to the live ABC broadcast from the Shrine.  A fittingly respectful and solemn occasion wrapped up with a hot cup of something and an ANZAC biscuit as the birds heralded the dawning of a new day.

Year 12 Making ANZAC Biscuits
Last week our Year 1 and two students learnt about the history of the ANZACS and why we commemorate ANZAC Day. After reading the book ‘ANZAC Biscuits’ by Phil Cummings (it’s a beautiful read if you are so inclined) and discovering what this Aussie treat is all about, the students ventured into the kitchen and whipped up a batch or three. Here is what some of our students wrote…

Last Thursday we made ANZAC Biscuits. I rolled them into balls then we put them in the oven and then everyone ate one of the cookies. But I did not because I didn’t want to. It was fun making them though.

I like sifting the flour and I liked to stir in the golden syrup. I liked rolling the Anzac biscuits. It is sweet.
ANZAC by James 1/2 A

For ANZAC Day we made ANZAC biscuits. I rolled them into balls. It was so, so, so, so fun! They were so delicious and yummy! Thank you for reading this, Bye Bye.

2025.04.28 Cross Country Years 3-6
I am Amber, one of the SRC/wellbeing leaders and l participated in this year's Cross Country. On Monday the 28th April at Coopers Reserve, just across the road from school ,the year 3,4,5 and 6s got ready to do their race. Different age groups had different distances to run. The teachers stood at different parts of the track encouraging the students to keep on going. This activity is fun but tiring and we earn house points, keep up our physical health and have fun.

Hi i'm Jackson an SRC/Wellbeing Leader and one of the many who participated in 2025 cross country and I would like to tell you all about my experience with cross country 2025. The race for the year sixes and fives was one lap around the oval and two big ones around the park.

For the threes and fours it was the other way around, two ovals and one big lap.

We waited patiently as the other races started one after the other, until at last, the race started. However, I started a bit late after some technical difficulties, but that didn’t stop me.

As I tagged along everyone started to spread out. I kept my pace for about one big lap then by the second big lap I was exhausted.

But I kept pushing as it was looking like I was going to make it to the top ten and make it to the next round.

In the final stretch I sprinted without hesitation even though no one was close to me and made it 8th overall, sitting and waiting for my friends to finish. After some waiting they made it back and I raced for my drink bottle and rested.

Overall it was a great experience and I can't wait for the District Cross Country.

Hi, I'm Hunter, an SRC/Wellbeing Leader of 2025 and one of the many that participated in this active event. It was really nice to get a bit more exercise since I am an unfit person. A lot of people have been cheering us students on as we finished the long race. During the race many had tried running with great determination and in the end, succeeding to the district Cross Country. While many didn't, they were still awarded a point to their House team. So I congratulate the ones who tried their best in it and didn’t give up due to pure determination. I am so grateful to the ones that participated and cheered us on because if none of us were there, it wouldn’t happen.  So I'm grateful for everyone who did it and cheered us on.

Sincere thanks from the SRC of Wattle Park Primary

Members of Parliament and Candidates Visiting Schools
Given the looming election, you may be interested to know the position of the Department of Education on Members of Parliament and Candidates visiting schools.

Note the DE policy regarding ‘Members of Parliament and Candidates Visiting Schools’ on our website HERE. under the title ‘Visitors to WPPS’

Of the many points outlined in this policy, two are of particular interest:

  • Principals are encouraged to accommodate requests for MP and candidate visits to schools.
  • School employees must always remain politically neutral in their work – this extends to decisions to host or invite MPs or candidates to the school and during any visit.
