Hello Everyone,
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to a thrilling term of learning as well as some surprising developments regarding our Kindergarten.
Thank you to our PFA, our volunteers, Cameron Close residents and our School Council for your time your guidance and your support in myriad ways.
Nicole Browne, our much admired horticulturalist bids us farewell in her capacity as Stephanie Alexander Gardener for next term, however, will still be seen around onsite to tackle the triffid-like needs of our 3.42 hectares of gardens. The program will continue with familiar faces to be introduced next term.
Colour Fun Run
You may remember in term 4 of 2024 we had our inaugural Colour Fun Run. This began as part of the Year 6 Initiative Program.
Given it was such a success we decided to make it an annual event. Success is highly dependent upon the weather so we decided to put it in term 1 each year as term 4 is too busy and terms 2 and 3 are not known for their reliably sunny days.
This is why we have had two colour fun runs in close succession.
There were many fabulous pictures taken. For more photos, please see our separate article on Colour Fun Run.
It was not only a fun event but it was financially successful. As figures come to hand we will let you know how much money we made towards our new playground.

A film about parenting called ‘Seen’
Recently l have had reason to investigate this film and why it was made.
It ‘...explores the transformative power of personal healing for parents but also delves into the scientifically supported effects of such healing on parenting and its impact on child brain development.’
Various professors, doctors and paediatricians were involved in the making and all feedback I have had so far from parents in the community who have watched it has been very positive.

Our Staff
Back by popular demand is our staff profiles section. This week we feature Year 12C Teacher Ms. Anna Saaksjarvi
Hi again everyone ?
As I have said before, I really do feel very lucky to be part of such a welcoming, supportive, fun and engaged community. This community includes the children, staff, parents and careers. We are so lucky to be such an open, friendly and inclusive school. Something for which I think many of us are certainly very proud of.
I started teaching at Wattle Park Primary in 2012 in the Year 5/6 area. Since then, I had some time off whilst having my 3 children, who also attend our amazing school. After spending some time in Grade 3 and Grade 2 after returning from maternity leave, I am now very much enjoying teaching Year 1/2C.
As one of the literacy leaders, along with Sam Teng, I am incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment of our staff to learn more about and implement the Science of Learning in our school. We are working very hard on taking the knowledge of world wide researchers and leaders across a variety of areas, including neuroscience, to adapt our curriculum to become more explicit and in line with up to date, evidence based practises. We’re certainly still a working progress, but we are very proud of where we have come from and where we are going. All of our hard work and dedication is all about providing the best for all of our students!
We want everyone to come to school feeling safe and happy and that no matter where they are on their learning journey, they are improving and working towards achieving their individual goals. We all have our own unique strengths and wonderful different ways of experiencing the world. Understanding that and celebrating that is important.
As I have said before, I really appreciate how our students look out for and support each other. How truly lucky we are! It is certainly a reflection of our wonderful broader community.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all next term!
