Year 1 Cameron Close Reading Program
A highlight of the Year 1 literacy program is the visits to Cameron Close Retirement Home, where the Year 1 students share their favorite books with a group of residents. Divided into two groups – The Wombats and The Koalas – the children take turns attending on a fortnightly rotation.
These visits are a cherished experience for both the students and the residents. The children eagerly look forward to each session, building confidence in their reading skills while forming meaningful connections with the residents, who generously share their time and wisdom.
Liam: “It was quite fun reading and colouring. Bev listened to my reading.”
Haris: “I like Faye because I get to read with her. We go through the secret door. On our first visit, we got to have a tour of the place.”

Dear WPPS Families,
Thank you for your continued support throughout Term 1!
Your child would have brought home an Easter Eggtacular lucky ticket booklet. We kindly ask for your help in supporting our school by selling the tickets and returning the ticket stubs, along with the cash, in a sealed envelope to the school office by Wednesday, 2 April.
The lucky winners will be drawn during our assembly on the last day of term, Friday 4 April, at 9:15am.
In addition to selling tickets, we are also seeking donations of chocolate Easter eggs and other Easter-themed treats to help create some fantastic hampers for our raffle. Your generous donations will help make this event truly special!
Thank you once again for your incredible support – we really appreciate it!
Regards, WPPS PFA.
PS There are more ticket booklets at the office should you require more.
