WHK has always had a close connection with WPPS as one of our main feeder pre-schools for our Foundation classes. We welcome them and the close connection they will form with our primary school students, making the transition from Kinder to Foundations as smooth as possible.
For 2025, WHK will be housed in our STEM building with a view to being permanently located on our site, in another yet to be determined location in 2026.
Warrigal Road Gate Fencing
All things going as planned, we will have the temporary fencing replaced by a permanent barrier this weekend. A letter about this was hand delivered to surrounding residents this week were also sent out to our community via Compass this past week. Details are:
Council has programmed the installation of pedestrian fencing on the east side of Warrigal Road, Burwood, adjacent to Wattle Park Primary School near the pedestrian operated traffic signals. Please refer to the attached plan showing the location of the proposed fencing installation.
Works are planned for Saturday, 15 February 2025 and are expected to be completed by Sunday, 16 February 2025. Work hours will be between 7am to 5pm (weather permitting). Unfavourable weather conditions may delay the works to the next available day or extend the daily working hours.
Due to the location of the works, there will be traffic management in place and delays may be expected.
If you have any queries regarding these works, please contact Council’s Project Engineer, Hank Zhu, on 0478 271 352.
Our Students
Grade 1/2 Genre Study – The Three Little Pigs
In Term 1, as part of our literacy program, Year 1/2 explored the story of The Three Little Pigs by Susanna Davidson. Students enjoyed reading and discussing the characters, setting, and events of the story. We focussed on retelling the story in order and sequencing the events. They created their own flip-the-flap fairy tales, retelling the classic story in a fun and interactive way.
Georgie: “I learned about the three little pigs. I enjoyed colouring in. It was fun.”
Claire: “I enjoyed the story when the big bad wolf blew the house down. It was fun colouring in the activities.”
Eva: “I enjoyed it when the wolf cried at the end of the story. It was fun to mix the colours when drawing and do beautiful backgrounds.”

Our Staff
Our series on our WPPS staff has been very popular over the last few years. As staff change year levels there is always renewed interest in who's who in the zoo. Re-introducing Ms Kathryn Skantzos of FA in 2025.
Hello Wattle Park Families!
Some of you may already recognise me as this will be my 16th year at our wonderful school. I am currently teaching FA.
During my time here, I have taught in almost every year level and seen so many positive additions to our school environment. I am currently in Foundation and have enjoyed a great start to the year. I look forward to this semester being full of fun, learning, growth and supporting the children.
I also help run SRC, so it has been great getting to know students from all year levels who are passionate about representing the views of their peers and encouraging student voice. Please feel free to reach out and say ‘Hi!’ as you pass by; I love meeting the school community.
