Hello Everyone
This is our final newsletter for the year and as a picture can tell a thousand words, after a few points of note, please grant yourself a cup of tea (or something else) and enjoy the pictorial reflection.
Kindergarten in 2025
I have been in contact with various people regarding Wattle Hill Kindergarten relocating temporarily to our STEM building in 2025. Everything going well, they will be ready to go in term 1 2025. You may be interested how it is going to be fenced off and where it’s separate entrance is going to go so here we are:
Our Students
Oscar Plummer 6B was a winner of a recent coding competition organised by Digimaker - the 2024 Makers Jam.
Along with other contestants he raced to code and design his own version of the classic Windows Minesweeper game in Scratch over 10 days. He spent over 50 hours on the project including composing all the music, designing the artwork and compiling the code.
The judges described his game as complex, very cool and fun to play. They said the music was amazing and the coding was really really cool.
Entries were received from schools across Victoria from students aged 8-16.
His winners interview is featured on this instagram post.

He managed to achieve all this despite being on school camp for a significant part of the competition time.
Oscar is one of this year’s STEM leaders at WPPS.
Well done Oscar!

Canteen
You may recall a few weeks ago we surveyed the community regarding when would be best to have our Canteen open, We did this to create more turnover so we can continue to have our canteen operate. As a result, in 2025 our canteen will operate on Thursday and Fridays.

School Review
In term 2 of 2025 WPPS will have its 4 yearly School Review. These contribute to constructing the School Strategic Plan which contains each of our 4 Annual Implementation plans.
l will put out a survey or two next term to gather ideas from our school community about things you like, things you may like to change and the direction you’d like to see school go.
School Policies
The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Wattle Park Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures in consultation with the School Council to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school’s website.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact Wattle Park Primary School at wattle.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au or by phone on 03 9808 2165.
Have a great weekend.
