Principal's Report 15th November 2024

Hello Everyone,

Following up on ‘Safety First!’

I’ve been in contact with Richard Welch, Member for North Eastern Region, about the possibility of installing a temporary barrier between our Warrigal St gate and Warrigal road. There is no definitive action yet, and when/if it happens it may not be a pretty solution at least it will, ideally, be effective.

Until then we will only open that gate at the beginning and end of the school day. All other times it will be locked.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

2025 Canteen
We would like to keep our canteen open.  To do so we need it to make more money. One of the ways we are going to do this is to make sure it is open when the community would use it most.

Student Voice

On 1st  November, the following students proudly represented our school at the Chess VIC State Semi-Finals in Yarra Valley:

Roger T

Sridatta X

Hunter V

Aaryan D

Harrison W

The tournament was a full day of intense, timed chess games against other select schools that qualified for the state semi-finals. This year, our team achieved an impressive 22nd place out of 37 schools. A special recognition goes to Aaryan D for his outstanding performance, winning 4 out of 7 games.

We look forward to welcoming more members to strengthen our team next year and achieve an even higher ranking, giving us a chance to qualify for the state finals.

For more information on how to join, please go to www.mindfulchess.com.au

Students of the week

Congratulations to those students who were noted this week for displaying one for more of our school values: Respect, Encourage, Value, Care, Challenge and Responsibility.

Year 3 Market Day Stall Activity

A message from our YEar 3 team:

Last week, students in Year 3 participated in a Market Day Stall activity to coincide with our Mathematical unit of work on Money. They made crafts to sell to their fellow students in Year 2 and 3, with the aim to practise their money skills, such as giving change and budgeting for items they may wish to buy.

Rose: I liked seeing students spending their money on things that I created. I bought some beautiful things, and the best bit was I didn't need to spend any real money!

Lucas: I enjoyed selling our things to my classmates and to our special Year 2 visitors.

Mihika: I enjoyed it when people came to my store and used their money wisely. I was confident with working out the change.

Austin: I liked that we had the Year 2s visit us. They will be doing this next year.

House Points

The House Points have been collected for this week.  The winning house decorates the trophy with their colours and has it displayed in the foyer of the school.
