Hello Everyone,
You are invited to the EVENT OF THE YEAR!
Crazy Colour Fun Run - Friday 25th October - 2pm
Our Crazy Colour Fun Run is happening next Friday 25th October from 2pm on the top oval. The event aims to promote health, wellness, and community spirit while having an absolute blast!
While we are fundraising money for school facilities, every $2,000 we raise one of the teachers gets slimed. So far we have raised $7,000 for the school! We’ve already slimed three teachers, Nic Lindsay, Anna Saaksarvi and Stephen Roberts, there are still many teachers to go yet. If you want to see the likes of Mr Abell and Mr Feather get slimed you better keep fundraising! All you have to do is sign up at funrun.com.au.
Parents are welcome to attend on the day!
Isabella Knight & Ethan Walker 6B
To encourage everyone to reach our goal of 10000, each time a $2000 mark is reached a teacher has volunteered to be ‘slimed’ (!)
Thank you to Mr Lindsay, Ms Saaksjarvi and Mr Roberts! who were our victims last week:
The (other) EVENT OF THE YEAR is …

Time in Year 3
Students in Year 3 are learning about ‘Time’. To teach time, we have utilised a range of different teaching resources/hands on activities.
Students have enjoyed: manipulating mini clocks, group games, interactive videos and tasks on their devices.
Ollie “I liked figuring out ‘quarter to and quarter past times’. They were tricky but I became confident in the end. “
Tameem “I really enjoyed using the mini clocks. It was challenging to turn the hands at the correct times.”
Lucas “It was fun and hard at the same time. I enjoyed playing the game.”
Ella “It was fun learning about the five minute interval times. I loved playing the time game - it was fun but helped us to learn all about the different times. “
Visual Art
A message from our Visual Art teacher Ms Sarah Nolan:
At the beginning of Term 3, the Year 5 and 6 students of Wattle Park embarked on an important project in the Art room, the Wild at Art Competition run by the Australian Conservation Institute.
Firstly, they had to research an Australian endangered animal, bird or plant then learn about the habitat, diet, region and why their chosen species was endangered. The students had to try and capture this information to create their artwork. There were no limits as to what medium could be used. All children worked really hard on their pieces but 6 students artworks from Wattle Park caught the eye of the judges.
So Wild At Art is Australia's biggest wildlife art competition for kids.
It was an opportunity for children to unleash their artistic creativity while learning about Australia's threatened animals and plants – and the threats facing them.
This year, 5000 young people across the country took on the big task of speaking up to protect Australia’s threatened plants and animals.
The ACF wanted to award every artwork for creativity and passion. It was incredibly difficult for the judges to narrow the outstanding talent down to just a handful of winners – but here are the 6 finalists from Wattle Park Primary School, whose work will be framed and displayed at the Box Hill Community Arts Centre on the 23rd of November 2024.
Here are the following finalists:
Dotty M - Let Em Free
Autumn - Help the South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo Fly above the fires that threaten their home
Edie - The Silver Sea
Frankie - Mountain Pygmy Possum
June The Koala
Xoli The Loggerhead Turtle
Mathletics Champion
A round of applause for:
Charlie G - 5B
who has excelled in Mathletics this week through consistent participation and impressive performance. Well done Charlie!
ECO MVP
Congratulations to:
Lila C - 6A
How to win….
It’s simple
- Continue to bring your nude food lunches
- Pick up rubbish around the classroom and school
- Turn off lights and powerpoints that don’t need to be on
- Turn off leaking taps
- Dispose of rubbish appropriately.
Each week, a Scarecrow teacher or leader will visit one classroom (at random). They will select one student for the ECO MVP, and their photo will be taken for Assembly. The student will receive an amazing eco straw and bag.
House Points
The House Points have been collected for this week. The winning house decorates the trophy with their colours and has it displayed in the foyer of the school.
Notices
Thank you
Thank you to Ben Beard, Dan Hanson and Makka who made our playground safer on the weekend by removing this nasty piece of leftover landscaping:
And removed the unstable concrete bench to make way for new ones to be attached to the concrete pads, hopefully by the end of the year.
Individual Auditions for the 2025 Victorian State School Spectacular
If any student is interested in auditioning individually, to be a singer on stage or part of the orchestra, separate to auditioning for our school choir, you can do so via this link HERE
Ground Works
You will notice the new concrete path surrounds a large section that requires infilling with topsoil. This will be completed this weekend by a landscaper to make sure the edge between the path is level with the ground preventing unexpected falls.
A working bee will take care of the rest - time to be decided.
Have a great weekend.
