Hello Everyone,

The PFA events, the volunteers, the School Council, our friends at Cameron Close and Papilio and a host of other people have been instrumental in creating a safe place to enable our students to flourish.

Victorian State School Spectacular - triumph!
The VSSS is a triumph of artistic talent, organisation, goodwill and joy. Well done to all of our students who auditioned, spent lunchtimes rehearsing and committed to the event.
I cannot thank our extremely dedicated Performing Arts Specialist Sylwia Michalska and our effervescent and stratospherically well organised Learning Assistant Jo Gleeson, enough for their commitment, time and care they took to create this opportunity for our students.
And you, yes you.. If you were one of the parents, grandparents and/or older sisters and brothers who helped with transport to both rehearsals and performances - thank you too - such an enriching experience would not happen without your selfless commitment.

The House Points have been collected for this week. The winning house decorates the trophy with their colours and has it displayed in the foyer of the school.
ECO MVP
Congratulations to:
Kingsley Z in 2A
How to win….
It’s simple
- Continue to bring your nude food lunches
- Pick up rubbish around the classroom and school
- Turn off lights and powerpoints that don’t need to be on
- Turn off leaking taps
- Dispose of rubbish appropriately.
Each week, a Scarecrow teacher or leader will visit one classroom (at random). They will select one student for the ECO MVP, and their photo will be taken for Assembly. The student will receive an amazing eco straw and bag.
Our Staff
Continuing our series on getting to know our staff at Wattle Park Primary School, we introduce Laura , a student in Educational Support Student working in Year 2B.
My name is Laura and I’m an Education Support student from Swinburne University doing my placement in 2B. I’ve been having such an amazing time on placement and am excited to continue being here once a week until late in term 4.
I’m proudly Autistic and am pursuing education support because I want to make a difference in the lives of all students, but especially other neurodiverse and disabled students. I believe in the power of public education and think every child deserves access to fully-funded public schools where they can grow and thrive knowing they’re surrounded by safe adults who will advocate for them.
When I’m not at WPPS doing placement, you can find me working locally in community health or leading one our local Girl Guides units. I’m really proud of the work I get to do by being in community with children and have had a really wonderful experience at Wattle Park Primary School.
Thanks!!
Laura

Deakin Uni x Wattle Park Primary School Counselling Opportunity
Wattle Park Primary School recently partnered with Deakin University’s Counselling Unit to offer student counsellors the opportunity to work with students from Wattle Park Primary School.
The purpose of this engagement is to provide short-term counselling to support students in achieving physical, social, emotional, academic, and psychological wellbeing.
Prior to undertaking placement, students have completed core subjects required to equip them with sufficient counselling skills and the ability to apply these to a range of clients as required.
Counselling support is only effective when those taking part are willing participants.
If you wish for your child/ren to participate in the Deakin University Counselling Opportunity, please email the school office at wattle.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
WPPS will select which students participate in the program based upon the parameters of the counselling provided and the needs of the specific child. As you will understand, medical privacy is of the utmost importance and as such the basis upon which students are chosen will only be discussed with relevant parties.
Ground works
Our new footpath is up and running! Our 2024 School Captains have been immortalised (as has Vic, our (un)official therapy dog). Next term we'll be upgrading seating.
Thank you in anticipation for your much appreciated contribution.
Have a great term 3 holiday!

On Wednesday the 11th of August, the year 5\6s displayed their work for ‘Night of the Notables’. After spending the term working tirelessly, they completed a flawless end result, consisting of a biography, board and creative interactive elements, about an inspiring Australian they admired. The Year five/sixes were encouraged to dress up as their inspirational Australian and answer questions regarding their lives. By 6pm the Year five and six classrooms were filled with gobsmacked and speechless family members, friends and guests.Thank you for sharing and enjoying this evening with us
