Little Scientists Enrichment Program by John Monash Science School
Over the past two terms, four Year Five and Six students have attended John Monash Science School taking part in their Little Scientists Enrichment Program.
This week our Little Scientists had to over come the conundrum how to save an egg from a very large drop. Take a look at how they did (HERE).
State Cross Country
On Thursday, July 18th, Wattle Park PS had a single student from Year Six compete at the STATE Cross Country competition. After successfully competing and advancing through the house cross country (the most challenging of all), District, Division, and then Regionals, he went to Yarra Glen to take on the best in the state.

ICAS
We are delighted to inform you that we will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS competition this year across Years 4 – 6.
What is ICAS?
ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) is an online academic competition that is designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling and Digital Technologies.
Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student who participates will receive a printed certificate and an online results report. Top performers will be eligible for medals.
We encourage you to consider entering your child (Year 4-6 only) into ICAS this year.
How to participate in ICAS
If you wish for your child to participate in ICAS this year, please:
Please note that the ICAS tests shown for selection are at the school’s discretion.
After payment is made via the Parent Payment System, you will receive an order confirmation email. Please keep this for your records.
ICAS Results and Certificates
We will notify you of the date(s) that we run ICAS at the school and when your child’s ICAS results are ready. You will have until Monday 29th July to make an order, and your child will be sitting the test/s in August. Once we have received your child’s ICAS certificate, we will send it home with your child. The back of the certificate shows ICAS results and the login details, ‘TAP ID and Pin’, that you and your child need to enter on the Results Portal.
Our Staff
As we continue to get to know our staff at WPPS I’d like to introduce our Performing Arts Teacher - Sylwia Michalska…
Hello Wattle Park Community,
I have been a Performing Arts Teacher for nearly 20 years. I have been fortunate to gain my first experience as a teacher at Witold Lutoslawski Secondary Music School in Poland. I also was privileged to graduate with a major in piano performance studying under Beryl Sedivka and Ian Monroe at the Conservatorium of Music in Tasmania. I am in my fifth year at WPPS, having taught at various secondary schools in Melbourne. I absolutely love teaching at Wattle Park Primary.
I always believe that if you love what you teach, then the students will love it too. Currently, I am very excited about preparing our selected students for the Victorian State School Spectacular Concert, which will take place in John Cain Arena on the 14th September. It is a huge opportunity for our students to be involved in such a breathtaking performance, so well done to all students for their hard work and commitment.
