Hello Everyone,
A reminder that we are, like most State Schools, a nut free school. We have a duty of care to all students which includes taking reasonable steps to prevent any reasonably foreseeable harm to a student. A result of some nut allergies may be a severe reaction causing death.
More information on this Department of Education policy can be found on our website HERE.
Chooks
Thanks to the Stringer Family our fabulous feathered ladies have returned! Thank you to Ms Woodhouse and Ms Duong for incorporating the assistance of Team Kids and the Cameron Close residents to populate our feeding schedule so we do not have to appeal so desperately to our school families to attend to the ladies on the weekends.

House Points
The House Points have been collected for this week. The winning house decorates the trophy with their colours and has it displayed in the foyer of the school.
Fractions in Year 3
We have begun our unit of work on Fractions. The Year 3 students took part in a rich learning experience based on the text ‘Full House’ By Dayle Ann Dodds. Students examined the big idea of fractions through this imaginative text.
This text allowed us to cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities in our classes. Visual learners benefited from the colourful illustrations, while auditory learners engaged with the story aspect of the book. Additionally, students found it easier to grasp fraction concepts when presented in a visual and narrative format.
Pizza Task
“We made fraction pizzas. It looked delicious. We drew our pizza toppings and divided them using fractions. We drew our pizza toppings. It was very fun.”
Jake R.
"I learned that the numerator tells you the number of slices with topping and the denominator shows us the total number of slices in your pizza."
Amelia
Streamer Task
“We were learning quarters, halves and thirds. We were folding a long strip of streamer paper to make fractions. The halves and quarters were easy, but the thirds were so hard. In the end we did it!”
Mihika, Jakob and Brayden
Fraction Wall
“In our group we had different sized fractions tiles. We had to use these to make a fraction wall. Some fractions were one whole, two halves and it even went up to twelfths. It was really fun, the whole group had fun!”

Our Staff
Hi Wonderful Wattle Park!
I feel very lucky to be part of such a welcoming, supportive, fun and engaged community!
I started teaching at Wattle Park Primary in 2012 in the Year 5/6 area. Since then I took some time off whilst having my 3 children, who also attend our amazing school. After spending some time in Grade 3, I am now very much enjoying teaching Year 2 for a second year in a row. I love the exuberance and different perspective the children bring to learning. Most of all, I really appreciate how our students look out for and support each other. How truly lucky we are! It is certainly a reflection of our wonderful broader community.
Term 2 is action packed with lots of fun for all and I am very much looking forward to seeing lots of excited, happy children throughout the school with stories to share with their friends and families. Bring on the learning and the fun!
