Hello Everyone,
You may notice we have some new additions to our foyer. These additions are to display with great clarity, our students in leadership, our approach to cyber safety, an overview of our whole school learning program and associated specialist programs - all of which we are proud of.
Apart from bringing a perspicuity to our current community, it will also serve as a point of interest and discussion for those parents/ guardians who are considering sending their child/ren to our school.

18- 22th March - Cultural Diversity Week (& Harmony Day)
In Celebration of Harmony Day, children wore a touch of orange on Friday, 22nd March and participated in activities to celebrate cultural diversity.
It was wonderful to see the sea of orange around the school and the efforts to support this important day. Thank you to everyone who brought an orange to share with their class.
Year 5 Maths
We did a maths board game and it was all about powers, multiplication, addition and subtraction.
The board game was super fun and was really educational!!! The board game itself was really intense and challenging to do but was really fun when we got to play!!!!!
We each got a counter (that was in different colours to tell the difference), and 1 die to share and there were power ups and bad power ups like go back what the equation equaled, that is how many spaces we move backwards, forwards, how many times we rolled, and what square we had to go to. It took a long time to finish the game because we were in groups of 4 or 5, there was also a lot of writing in our maths book to work it out but in the end it was SUPER FUN!!!
We had a blast with all the maths that we had to work out in our books and hoped you liked our explanation on the MATHS BOARD GAME!!!!!!

Regional Swimming Competition
Congratulations to Abigail and Owen, who participated in the Eastern Metropolitan Primary Swimming Region Championships on Friday, 22.03. An incredible feat! Owen took part in the 50-meter butterfly, while Abigail swam in the 50-meter backstroke and completed a personal best time.
Well done Abi & Owen!
Cricket Grand Final
Last weekend, James C, Owen F, Charlie G, Ethan W, James B and Lachie C played cricket in U12B at Burwood Bulls Cricket Club. They had a brilliant season, going undefeated and winning the Grand Final. Lachie was Player of the Match, opening the batting and making 23 not out and followed this up with 3 wickets. James B top scored on 33 not out and James C hit the winning runs.
Owen’s dad, Andrew F., coached the team. Andrew also won his grand final on the same day for the thirds.
It was also wonderful to see other Wattle Park families come to the match to support the boys.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the U12B Burwood Bulls CC team.

Our Staff
Our series on our staff proved so popular last year, I have requests for it to return as our parents have different teachers this year. We also have different people around the school assisting in different capacities. One of these people you may have seen around is Rachael:
Hello Everyone!
My name is Rachael Tassone, and I am a third-year pre-service teacher from Deakin University.
I was born and raised in Mildura, a small town along the Victorian and New South Wales border, where I completed my thirteen years of schooling. I moved to Melbourne in 2022 where I had to manage and overcome the challenges of living in a new city, new responsibilities and begin a four-year Bachelor’s Degree all at once.
Already, I can see how wonderful each of the students are and how comfortable and supportive the teaching environment is, here at Wattle Park. I am thankful to be welcomed into this community to learn and develop both as a person and a future teacher. I am thrilled to be working alongside James Feather as I observe and teach 6B over the ten-day period.
Thanks!

Hats on in Term 1!
With our emergence from the winter gloom into the glorious springtime sunshine comes the need to be aware of the damage rays can do. As per our Sunsmart Policy WPPS states the following:
From 1 September to 30 April, all students must wear a sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor activities.
‘Hats on in September, off in May’
Students who are not wearing appropriate protective clothing or a hat may be asked to play in the shade or in a suitable area protected from the sun.
Have a great weekend!
