Principal's Report 2nd February 2024

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to everyone including our new Foundation students for 2024!

Starting off the school year well is imperative.

At WPPS we do this by wrapping up the previous year with various programs including the ‘Step up to School Program’ for Foundation students and our ‘Whole School Transition day’ which allows students to become familiar with their next year's teacher and classroom.

The ‘Start Up Program’ runs for the first two weeks of school and aims to familiarise our students with our school values, why we have them and how they look when in action on the playground and in the classroom.

You’ll find there were many marvellous ways of doing the above as evidenced below:

Our Students

Year 4 Hand affirmations and making individual cubes that stack together to make a classroom

Year 5 Modelling our school values

Our Staff
Many of you may remember the series of staff profiles we did last year allowing the community  to get to know the staff better at WPPS. We have one new teaching staff member this year, Miss Poorva Bansal who is teaching Year 3B.

I am thrilled to introduce myself as a new addition to the vibrant family at Wattle Park Primary School. Being a recent graduate teacher, the prospect of the upcoming year fills me with genuine excitement. As we navigate this academic year together, I am excited about the prospect of shared successes, creating memorable moments, and fostering a sense of joy in the classroom. I believe in the power of education to transform lives, and I am dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning experience for all. Here's to a fantastic year ahead, filled with learning, laughter, and the collective achievement of our goals.

Hats on in Term 1!
With our emergence from the winter gloom into the glorious springtime sunshine comes the need to be aware of the damage rays can do. As per our Sunsmart Policy WPPS states the following:

From 1 September to 30 April, all students must wear a sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor activities.

‘Hats on in September, off in May’

Students who are not wearing appropriate protective clothing or a hat may be asked to play in the shade or in a suitable area protected from the sun.

Have a great weekend!
