2024 Foundation/Prep Enrolments
Next year Foundation/Prep enrolments are now open!

1. Contact our school or book through our website (book a school tour) to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep)
3. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 28 July 2023
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 11 August 2023. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 25 August 2023
5. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2023
6. Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Tuesday 30 January 2024.

Enrolment applications submitted after 28 July 2023 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Konnective Shutting Down on Monday 15th May
Konnective is one of the 4 platforms we use to communicate with our school community. We use:

Konnective informed us last year that after 10 years of operation they are shutting down in September 2023. They have recently asked us to renew our subscription, which ends on the 15th of May this year. We will not be doing this. Instead, we will wrap up our use of Konnective when our subscription concludes on the 15th May.

Our Students - Foundation
Last week the Foundation classes were lucky enough to have a visit from the Responsible Pet Ownership Education Team. The interactive program focuses on teaching students:

• when dogs should be left alone

• things we should not do to dogs

• how can you tell if a dog is happy, scared or angry

• a safe way to approach and greet a dog

• what to do if approached by an unknown or aggressive dog

Our Students - Deakin University Family Science Games Night
On Tuesday night many WPPS families went to Deakin University to participate in the Family Science Games night. Inside the building we all played various card and board games, that all had something to do with Science or Maths and used problem solving skills, science theories and logic. One of the games I enjoyed was Lazer Maze, where you must try to get a laser beam through a maze that has rocks blocking the path, using the mirrors to reflect and deflect the laser & light up the beacons. One of the best things there, was the VR (virtual reality) headset which would transport you to the middle of an ocean. In general, it was a great experience, and we had a lot of fun.

Building and Grounds - Gardening Volunteers
Our grounds are spectacular and are one of the things that set us apart from all other schools in the area. There is always something to be done on a small scale (weeding) or large scale (removal of those treated pine poles along Banksia Street, whose very annoying presence is only superseded by the horror I feel each time l am assaulted by their misalignment!) 

If you have some free time and would like to give us a hand to help maintain the grounds, please pop in and see me. All assistance is appreciated.

Building and Grounds - Great Big Working Bee
Thank you to our Horticultural Specialist, Nikki Browne and Building and Grounds Committee leader, Michael Hunt for organising the following Great Big Working Bee dates. These are on our website calendar and downloadable to your phone.

Chicken duty!
All you have to do is sign up and assist with the chickens on the weekend/during the holidays to win one of the following prizes! Each time you volunteer, you and your family receive an entry into the raffle.  If you win, you get to choose what ‘family experience’ you would like.  These experiences include;

1. Dental Van is Coming!
Please note that Dental Van will visit our school during the week of 14th August. Forms will be distributed next week. Please return the forms back to your child's teacher no later than Friday, 26th May, should you wish your child to visit the dental van. 

2. Put Away in May - Remember September
Hats are no longer required to be worn in the months of May to the end of August.

3. First Aid Room Volunteer
In order to keep our First Aid Room clean and tidy, we require volunteers to assist with this task. We need approximately 40 families on our roster to ensure that every family only needs to do this once per year. It is not time consuming and requires approximately 15 minutes of your time on a FRIDAY.

4. PSW New Deliver Option
From 15th February, parents are able to order PSW school uniforms online and have the order delivered to the school office. Deliveries will be weekly for parent collection. This will save parents from actually having to go to the PSW shop if you  know what you want and sizes.

The parent needs to choose the “Click and Collect” Option, the drop down box will appear and they choose for their item to be delivered to Wattle Park Primary School.
