Education Perfect
All students in Years 3 - 6 at Wattle Park Primary School have been invited to take part in the Education Perfect Global Language Championship 2023. This competition is held from Tuesday 7th March starting at 4pm and finishing at 4pm on Tuesday 14th March inclusive. Please check here for full the participation guide, rules and tips.
Education Perfect is an online self-directed learning tool, providing an interactive learning experience. It is currently used in LOTE sessions in the classroom for set tasks. Students are also encouraged to practice 5-10 mins every day at home if time permits.
To log into Education Perfect go to https://www.educationperfect.com/, or download the Education Perfect app from the Apple iTunes Store/Google Play Store. Please use the child’s username and password provided in class over the past couple of weeks. If you have any questions regarding Education Perfect or if your child has lost their username and password, please contact your child’s teacher or our LOTE teacher Ms Sabrina Lin at sabrina.lin@education.vic.gov.au
Year 1 Maths
Last week Year One students developed confidence with number sequences to and from 100 by skip counting by twos, fives and tens starting from zero. Children investigated and described number patterns formed by skip counting and patterns with objects, teddies, unifix, counters, hundreds boards to practise skip counting together.
Students used strips of coloured paper to record a counting sequence as far as they can. Writing the numbers vertically assisted the students to focus on any patterns that were formed.
Children were asked questions such as:
We created anchor charts for 2s 5s 10s using socks, hands and crabs to display in class as a visual reminder.
Year 3/4 Sports Gala Day
On Wednesday, 8th March, all of Year 3 & 4 had a Sports Gala Day. The sports we played were Newcombe, Hot Shot Tennis and Rounders. We played against other schools. We found it challenging at times but also really fun and enjoyable. We saw great sportsmanship and persistence from all the WPPS students. Two special mentions. The Rounders team and WPPS Red Newcombe team who were undefeated and premiers of their sports. Lastly, we would like to thank the volunteers and teachers who helped make this day possible.

Environmental Leaders - Clean Up Australia Day
Hello Everyone,
We are the Environment Leaders Callum, Charnè, and Edwin. Last Friday 3rd March we ran Clean Up Australia Day! After snack play at 2:40pm all of the school students got split up into their school houses (Lomandra, Acacia, Waratah and Blue Gum) to pick up rubbish in their set area.
Each house was given a bin to put all of the rubbish they found in. The house with the most rubbish in their bins by the end won a prize of 50 house points. Every student helped pick up all of the rubbish around the school and now the school has never been cleaner.
We decided that having this clean up day would help the school in numerous ways such as cleaning the school, making a safer environment for our animals, encouraging responsible behaviour from the students, and it has a sense of friendly competition between houses.
After clean up day the school became 10 x cleaner because of all the students' hard work and it has also helped the Australian community.

Lost and Found
Our ‘Lost and Found’ looks like a second hand store with clinical propensity for hoarding!
Please have a look if you have lost a uniform item. We have a process for Lost Property. It goes like this:
Parking
We recently had a visit from Whitehorse City Council to address the bottleneck parking issues that occur in the morning at the intersection of Banksia Steeet and Warrigal Road. As a result there is new signage coming soon to limit the times cars can park on the school side of Banksia St. I have not been told exactly when this will happen but it’s best I let everyone know to be on the lookout for it. When these signs go up, the police will be able to fine people for parking in the wrong zones at the wrong time.
Saturday, 18th March 2023 Great Big Working Bee
Once a term the WPPS community gets together to work on our vast and beautiful grounds to create a calm and ordered environment to support our students’ learning, safety and well being. The next one will be on Saturday 18th March.
Click HERE to find out what we are going to do and how you can help.
Hope to see you there!
Canteen: Ordering
Our canteen operates on Mondays and Fridays for lunch only.
Due to the timetable change outlined above, orders must be placed by 5pm the day before the order is required. This means:
Monday orders by 5pm Sunday
Friday orders by 5pm Thursday
Orders placed after these times cannot be processed.
This allows our Canteen Manager, Charlotte, enough time to get things organised.
To place an order, please download the free Flexischools App from the App Store or Google Play. Once you have downloaded the app you will be able to view and select your orders, and pay online.
Canteen: Volunteering
Do you have some time to spare? An hour and a half on a Friday would be great!
Our canteen would not be able to run without the wonderful support of the volunteer Parents and Grandparents in our school. We would love to have you volunteer for us, whether you are an experienced hand or an eager learner. Please see below to sign up.
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

6. Remember - No Hat No Play
It’s that time of year - September to May, when all students are required to have on a hat for outside play. Children will be required to play in the shade if no hat is worn, and being a Sun Smart School its important to have sun protection.
Hats are now available for purchase from office at a cost of $20 each.
7. First Aid Room Volunteer
In order to keep our First Aid Room clean and tidy, we require volunteers to assist with this task. We need approximately 40 families on our roster to ensure that every family only needs to do this once per year. It is not time consuming and requires approximately 15 minutes of your time on a FRIDAY.
